What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum?
The three-row Ford Explorer is a solid option for midsize SUV shoppers in the Fort Mill area and beyond. In 2025, the Explorer will be a mid-generation model with scaled-back trim options. The four trims offered this year are the Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. As the top-of-the-line trim, the Explorer Platinum delivers the ultimate driving experience and sports a few updates for you to check out.
Compared to the 2024 Explorer, the 2025 model year shows off updated styling at the front and rear. Both the LED headlights and taillights have a modernized style. The grille is redesigned with an almost rectangular shape and a new mesh pattern. The thin bumper is flanked by minimized air inlets. Across the sides, the Ford Explorer has subtly angled definition running over the door panels and dark, thick molding on the lower perimeter. The Platinum trim level gives you 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, special exterior trim, a Class III trailer hitch, a power liftgate, and a few additional exterior features.
The Platinum trim level’s standard engine is a turbo 2.3-liter, four-cylinder unit. This gas engine produces 300 horsepower with 311 pound-feet of torque. For this trim level, you can choose to upgrade to a turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine. With this engine, you’ll benefit from 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Both engines feature a 10-speed auto transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an upgrade.
The 2025 Explorer Platinum is differentiated from the other trim levels with heated captain’s chairs in the second row, a B&O sound system with 14 speakers, leather upholstery, a twin-panel sunroof, and special details throughout the interior. It also comes with features offered at lower trim levels. Some of these are a heated steering wheel, massaging front seats, BlueCruise, enhanced adaptive cruise control, remote engine start, wireless smartphone app connections, a 13.2-inch touch display screen, a Google navigation system, voice commands, a three-zone auto climate control system, and several additional features.
