The Beginning of Fort Mill Ford
In 1986, Hinson Automotive became Fort Mill Ford and was located on SC Hwy 160. In 1989, Fort Mill Ford moved into its new building located at 800 Gold Hill Road. In 1966, Sonic Automotive Group in Charlotte, NC purchased Fort Mill Ford. In January 2001, Fort Mill Ford moved into its new building at 801 Gold Hill Road where we are located today.

Community Involvement
Fort Mill Ford is also very much involved with the community. The 178th Engineering Battalion of the SC National Guard recently returned to Rock Hill after a 14-month deployment to Afghanistan and enjoyed a huge homecoming at the local armory. Fort Mill Ford associates adopted the 178th and the soldiers' families that formed the Family Readiness Group. Sergeant Major Bill Rouse of the battalion regularly phones his family and sought items in short supply for civilians in Afghanistan. These included coats, shoes, toys, school supplies and blankets.
Dealership associates participated in the statewide campaign that shipped more than 300 boxes of needed items to Afghanistan. Staff at Fort Mill Ford also supported the family group at home. In addition to donations that kept the local food pantry well stocked, staffers provided meals for the 178th member families, supplied postage for letters, child care, and sent toiletries and 150 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to the deployed soldiers.
