2024 Ford Explorer vs 2024 Ford Expedition
Serving Fort Mill, SC
The 2024 Explorer and the 2024 Expedition offer spacious, three-row cabins and plenty of features and power to meet your needs. However, the mid-size Explorer and the full-size Expedition are remarkably individualized, so one model may be an overall better fit for you. What should you know about these models as you prepare to make your next SUV purchase?
Performance
In 2024, the Ford Explorer’s hybrid powertrain is discontinued, leaving two gas engines across the eight trim levels. The base powertrain is a 2.3-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder system that delivers 300 horsepower. A more advanced 3.0-liter turbocharged, V6 engine is also available and produces 400 horsepower. The engines come with a 10-speed auto transmission, and most trims have standard rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. The 2024 Expedition is available with two wheelbases, and both have six trim level options. The same three powertrains are available for both wheelbases. These include a 3.5-liter turbo, V6, 380-horsepower unit, and an upgraded V6 good for 440 horsepower. Another V6 system is available that generates 400 horsepower. All come with a 10-speed auto transmission and rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
Appearance
The Ford Explorer is easy to spot on the road with its long, linear design. The flat roof slants downward slightly, and the side contours angle upward to create a sense of momentum. Horizontal LED headlights and rectangular fog lights accompany the lace-style mesh on the hexagon grille. The Expedition commands the road with its tall dimensions. A deep accent line sweeps across the otherwise smooth door panels, and the hood is well-defined. Two horizontal accent bars that cross the massive grille extend to enhance the LED-bolstered headlights.
Features
Numerous features are available in both of these 2024 Ford SUVs. These are a hands-free power liftgate, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a wireless smartphone charger, a premium sound system, a surround-view camera, heated seats in the first two rows, a digital instrument panel, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, second-row sunshades, ambient cabin lights, a navigation system, driver's memory settings, and others. The Expedition is available with a few extras, such as BlueCruise, park assist, a larger central display screen, power-deployable running boards, and others.
