2025 Ford Explorer vs 2024 Ford Explorer

Serving Fort Mill, SC

The Ford Explorer has been a preferred midsize SUV in the Fort Mill area and beyond for several decades. Its longstanding appeal is rooted in Ford's efforts to improve and modernize the Explorer continually. In 2025, the Explorer has received several improvements. You can rely on our trusted sales associates at Fort Mill Ford to help you compare the 2024 and 2025 model years.

Performance

In 2025, the Ford Explorer trim lineup is condensed into four options. These are the Active, the ST-Line, the ST, and the Platinum. The capabilities of these trim levels are unchanged, but the BlueCruise hands-free driving system is new for the 2025 model year. The entry-level powertrain is a 300-horsepower, four-cylinder, turbo 2.3-liter gas engine. The higher-level powertrain is a 400-horsepower, V6, turbo 3.0-liter system. These engines are linked to a 10-speed auto transmission; rear-wheel drive is standard. You can upgrade to all-wheel drive for all trim levels.

Appearance

The exterior style of the 2025 Explorer has been tweaked to modernize its design. At the front, the latest Explorer has updated styling for the air inlets, the LED headlamps, and the grille. The rear end also benefits from updated tail lamps. If you choose the ST-Line, ST, or Platinum trim levels, you can opt for a black-painted roof for the first time. For both 2024 and 2025, the Ford Explorer has a long profile with flat angles over the hood and roof, and the sides are impressively sculpted.

Features

Inside the cabin, the 2025 Ford Explorer brings new color choices and upgraded, soft-touch materials for you to enjoy. The Ford Digital Experience is also new. The software system provides internet browsing, native streaming, and app access while the vehicle is parked. Some of the many features offered in the 2024 Explorer that continue to be available in 2025 are a triple-zone climate control system, a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free liftgate, forward collision mitigation, wireless smart device app connections, lane departure mitigation, second-row captain's chairs, heated seats in the first two rows, USB ports, a navigation system, ambient lighting, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 12 speakers, a surround-view camera and numerous additional features.
