Ford Mustang Mach-E Announced as Car and Driver's 2021 EV of the Year

Car and Driver has a long-standing history of recognizing automotive excellence. In 2021, it ventured into new territory by offering its first-ever award for EV of the Year. All-electric vehicles offered for sale in the United States were contenders for the award. While Car and Driver had many well-designed cars and SUVs to consider, it ultimately gave its first EV of the Year award to the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Notably, the Mach-E beat out the Porsche Taycan, the Audi E-Tron, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, three Tesla models, and others for this incredible honor.
Car and Driver completed intense tests for the ten contenders as part of its vetting process. Some of the criteria it looked at include timed performance tests, subjective drivers' feedback, a 75-mile-per-hour range test, and even a 1,000-mile distance test. The Ford Mach-E excelled in these tests. More than that, Car and Driver was impressed explicitly by the Mach-E's overall quality and its premium materials.
The 2021 Ford Mach-E made waves in the auto industry when introduced to consumers. It brings together the American engineering that you expect from a Mustang with the modern elements of an all-electric SUV. It was also named the 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
