What's New for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning?

In 2022, Ford boldly electrifies its truck lineup by introducing its F-150 Lightning. This is an all-electric version of Ford’s popular, full-size pickup truck. While it shares many traits with the gas-powered F-150, it stands apart in exciting ways. The differences begin on the exterior. The boxy, confident profile is comparable to that of the traditional F-150. Likewise, the sides have lower-body accentuation that displays the model’s traditional character. However, on the nose, you will find a rectangular grille that spans almost the vehicle's entire width. On its flanks, two LED headlights stand vertically. This whole unit is wrapped on three sides by a thick LED lighting bar for an added touch of character.

Inside the F-150 Lightning, the powerful, modern design continues. The focal point in the cabin is a vertically-mounted, floating display screen. This screen consumes most of the center stack, and it is flanked by large air vents, a drive mode selector gauge, and a push-button starter. A large display screen behind the heated steering wheel provides digital readouts for the driver’s gauges. Your F-150 Lightning could be dressed up in vinyl, cloth, leather, or upgraded leather, depending on the trim level selected.

The F-150 Lighting is impressively equipped with the full range of modern features you may want your vehicle to have. In select or all trims, this truck comes with an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, massaging front seats, a Blue Cruise system, heated front, and rear seats, a wireless charging pad, a power-sliding rear window, a power tailgate, Pro Power Onboard tech, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, a 360-degree camera and a variety of other modern features.

Two motors drive this all-electric Ford truck, so it has an all-wheel drive configuration across all trim levels. There are two battery pack options available. The first option produces 452 horsepower, and it offers more torque than any of the gas-powered F-150 powertrains deliver. With this battery pack, your truck will have a range of 230 miles. The other battery pack produces 580 horsepower and has a 320-mile range.
