What's New for the 2023 Ford Explorer XLT?

Between its three-row cabin and captivating style, the Ford Explorer has long been at the top of the list for SUV shoppers in the Fort Mill area. In 2023, the Explorer is part of a generation that launched in 2020. It continues to be offered in eight trims, including the Base, the XLT, the ST-Line, the Timberline, the Limited, the ST, the King Ranch, and the Platinum. While the Explorer Base is well-appointed, drivers who want a few extras behind the wheel may prefer the Explorer XLT. For this trim, some minor standard and optional features have been juggled slightly for the current model year.

The 2023 Ford Explorer XLT's façade continues to have a robust and engaging look defined by long angles through the profile and a pair of diagonal accents across the sides. The hexagon grille perfectly integrates with the LED-topped, horizontal headlights to create a seamless look. The exterior of the XLT is appointed with a power liftgate, 18-inch wheels, roof rails, and heated side mirrors. If you add the optional XLT Sport package, your Explorer will come with 20-inch gray wheels, Carbonized Gray paint, and black mirror caps. The XLT Technology package includes power-folding side mirrors.

The performance of the 2023 Explorer XLT is enabled by a four-cylinder, turbocharged, 2.3-liter engine. It produces 300 horsepower paired with a 10-speed auto transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. However, all-wheel drive is offered as an upgrade.

The interior of the XLT trim is loaded with impressive features, including second-row captain's chairs, second-row USB ports, heated front seats, a push-button starter, FordPass Connect, an 8-inch touch display screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. With the optional packages, the XLT is also available with an auto-dimming rear mirror, a navigation system, and a 12-speaker sound system. The XLT has many safety technologies, such as rear parking sensors, lane departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation, trailer-sway damping, etc. Optional safety features for the Explorer XLT are a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane keeping.
