2022 Ford F-150 vs 2021 Ford F-150

Serving Fort Mill, SC

The full-size Ford F-150 truck has been commanding roads since its debut several decades ago. In 2021, the F-150’s 14th generation launched with essential updates from bumper to bumper. While there were many updates to the 2021 model, the 2022 F-150 shows off a few improvements. Our Fort Mill Ford sales team wants you to make your next truck purchase with the highest confidence level, and we are happy to help you discover the differences between the 2021 and 2022 versions of the F-150.

There is a critical difference between the 2021 and 2022 model years under the hood. In 2022, the 3.0-liter diesel engine has been removed from the lineup. All other powertrains and mechanical features hold steady. Specifically, five powertrains are offered for the 2022 model year. A 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6 gas engine kicks the lineup off. This is followed by a turbo 2.7-liter, V6, 325-horsepower engine and a 5.0-liter, V8, 400-horsepower engine. A 450-horsepower V6, the 3.5-liter engine may impress you in the Raptor trim level. Some of the 2021 and 2022 F-150s are available with a hybrid 3.5-liter V6 PowerBoost engine that produces 430 horsepower.

The F-150’s body design and exterior features are unchanged between 2021 and 2022. However, the 2022 F-150 is offered in select trims with a Black Appearance package. With this package, many exterior accent pieces have darkened coloring. Tall dimensions with a squared-off nose define the Ford’s style. The flat hood is prominently defined around the perimeter. The grille is expansive and links to tall, LED-bolstered headlights. Lower-body, body-colored molding runs across the sides of the F-150 for added distinction.

The available and standard features offered in the 2021 F-150 hold steady in the 2022 model year. Base-level equipment includes:

  • An 8-inch touch display screen
  • Vinyl flooring
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto
  • Lane departure warning
  • Forward collision mitigation
  • and more

As you progress up the trim line, the F-150 adds equipment like carpeted flooring, a larger touch display screen, a power-locking tailgate, rear auto braking, a dual-zone climate control system, LED bed lighting, a blind-spot monitor, heated and massaging front seats, a two-panel moonroof, powered running boards, an enhanced sound system, a 360-degree camera, Pro Power Onboard and more.

With many F-150 trucks usually in stock at Fort Mill Ford, now is an excellent time to stop by for a closer look at the options. Drop in at your convenience, or call ahead to schedule an appointment with our Ford sales team member.
