2023 Ford Edge vs 2023 Ford Explorer

Serving Fort Mill, SC

In the 2023 Ford SUV lineup, the Edge and the Explorer are midsize models with extensive appeal. Their most noticeable difference is in their seating accommodations. The Edge offers two rows, while the Explorer has three rows. However, this is only one of the significant differences you must be aware of before selecting your new SUV.

Performance

Most of the 2023 Ford Edge trims connect a four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter, 250-horsepower engine with an eight-speed auto transmission. The top Edge trim, however, has a 335-horsepower, turbo V6, 2.7-liter engine connected to a seven-speed auto transmission. All Edge trims have all-wheel drive. The 2023 Explorer, on the other hand, is available with two gas engine options and a 318-horsepower, V6 hybrid. The two gas systems are a 300-horsepower, turbo 2.3-liter, four-cylinder unit, and a 400-horsepower, 3.3-liter, V6 engine. All of the Explorer's trims have a 10-speed auto transmission, and they come with standard rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.

Appearance

Across their exteriors, the sleek Edge is boldly different from the chiseled Explorer. The 2023 Edge has smoothly contoured sides and prominent definition on the lower door panels. The grille has a hexagonal shape with a chrome surround. The sharply angled LED ribbon in the headlights corresponds with the L-shaped chrome element in the air intake. The 2023 Explorer has long angles through its profile and angled, deep accents on the sides. The grille is larger with a laced mesh pattern and integrated LED headlights.

Features

The 2023 Ford Edge is impressively outfitted with many advanced features, including a Bang & Olufsen sound system, leather and suede upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, an automated parking system, heated front and rear seats, a hands-free liftgate, wireless device charging, remote engine start, a household power outlet, a security alarm and many others. The Explorer has many of these features and may also be available with a power-folding third row, memory settings for the driver's seat, captain's chairs in the second row, approach lighting, and several additional features.
